Report on NZSL Interpreter Standards released

The report, 'A review of NZSL Interpreter Standards' provides a current snapshot of the issues faced by the Deaf community to access a high-quality interpreting service throughout New Zealand.

5th National Māori Deaf Hui

A national Māori Deaf Hui was held 2-5 June 2017 near Whangarei at Whakapara Marae. There were up to 80 attendees and approximately 64 of them were Māori Deaf. Nearly 50% of the Māori Deaf who attended the hui were young Māori Deaf (rangatahi).

Round 3 recipients NZSL Fund

17 projects for the third funding round (1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017) were approved and received a total of $542,471.

New NZSL e-learning resource released

Learn NZSL is a free e-learning resource developed by the Deaf Studies Research Unit at Victoria University of Wellington, supported by the NZSL Fund.

NZSL Assessment Toolkit - 2 September 2016

Kelston Deaf Education Centre and van Asch Deaf Education Centre successfully applied for funding from the NZSL Board to create an NZSL Assessment Toolkit for three to 11-year-old learners.
