Disability workforce programme

The disability workforce programme is guiding the actions Whaikaha is taking to help strengthen the disability workforce.

We are working with disabled people, tāngata whaikaha Māori, families and whānau, provider groups, and unions as this work progresses. We also engage regularly with other government agencies and tertiary organisations to ensure the disability workforce is considered in relevant workforce policies and settings.

The disability workforce programme will continue to evolve in response to changes in the wider system, including the recommendations of the independent review.

Workforce development

A focus for Whaikaha is developing a culturally competent and technically skilled workforce that can support disabled people to build the lives they choose.

We are gathering feedback on the priorities for workforce development from disabled people, tāngata whaikaha Māori, families and whānau, provider groups, and unions.

If you would like to be involved, please contact policy@whaikaha.govt.nz, with 'workforce development' in the subject line.
